Archeology

The museum has among its collections a collection of underwater archaeological materials (ceramics, metal, stone), of diverse origin and chronology. +info

Anthropology

  • ETHNOGRAPHY

    The museum has an important collection of ethnographic materials for fishing and riparian woodwork. +info

  • BOATS

    In 1991, the museum launched a plan to collect boats with the purpose of having a representative sample of work and leisure vessels from the Basque coast. The boats, of different typology, characteristics and measures, are in Navalaldea. In 2009, the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa promoted the restoration of several traditional boats recovered by the museum. +info

Art

  • SECOND CANVAS

    Project around 11 pictorial works representative of the Museum's collection. The works can be seen using the technology of super high resolution to appreciate the smallest details. The images are accompanied by storytellings, stories that give us more information about the scene represented, from the point of view of maritime history. +info

  • PORTRAITS OF STEAMSHIPS

    The museum has an interesting collection of portraits of boats ranging from old ships of the Old Regime to fishing boats of relatively recent bill. A part of this collection is composed of images of steamships, mostly merchants of the nineteenth-twentieth century, and military ships. +info

  • LINTEL OF THE URAZANDI HOUSE (16th century)

    The Urazandi house (Mutriku), located at the mouth of the Deba river, was demolished after the fire that it suffered in 1989, but the relief with nao representation that was located on the main door is part of the Museum's collections. +info

Documentart funds

  • CARTOGRAPHY

    The cartographic collection consists of 162 documents (nautical charts, maps, maps) of various themes and dated between the sixteenth and twentieth centuries. They cover a wide geographic range, from Gipuzkoan towns to coasts and islands of the five continents. The entire collection was studied and cataloged and can be consulted on the museum's website.   • ENGRAVINGS

    The collection of engravings is made up of more than 600 documents. Among them, 170 engravings that contain representations of the coast and ports and coastal towns of the Basque Country, dated between the sixteenth and twentieth centuries and available for consultation on the website of the museum.   • MANUEL DE AGOTE FUND

    Writings and diaries, drawings and maps of Manuel de Agote, agent of the Royal Company of the Philippines (1755-1803). They are a source of great value for the knowledge of relations with East Asia, and especially with China, at the end of the 18th century. Query.
