Ipuscua 1025-2025

In 2025, we commemorate one thousand years since the first documented mention of the land of Ipuscua, the origin of what is now the territory of Gipuzkoa. To mark the occasion, the Basque Maritime Museum proposes a route along the Guipuzcoan coast to visit locations mentioned in documents from that period and discover elements that have endured to this day. Visitors will observe that maritime activities were fundamental to the economy and political formation of the territory.
