This contains the texts of the Museum’s temporary exhibition in 2019, "Juan de Alcega. Universal tailor".
The publication and the exhibition set out to recoup the story of Juan de Alcega, an illustrious Gipuzkoa personality who has now been forgotten. He was the author of the first tailors’ treatise published all over Europe, concerning the geometry and practice of tailoring, “Libro de geometria, pratica y traça, el qual trata de lo tocante al officio de sastre", first published in Madrid in 1580 and reprinted in 1589.
About monographs
The Untzi Museoa carries out an editorial activity (books and brochures) mainly linked to the temporary exhibitions it produces. The effort to maintain a continuous and quality editorial production is, without a doubt, one of the distinctive marks of this Museum.
